Andrea Go

Where to start? I’ve been doing what I love for over 15 years now. Everyone assumes that I have been dreaming of doing hair since I was a little girl, but the truth is I was actually studying to become a nurse. I’ve always loved the idea of helping people out, but doing something more creative is truly where my heart is. Ever since taking cosmetology in high school, I knew that the hair and beauty industry was for me.

I once heard the saying “If you stop learning you might as well end your career”.  That is why I believe education is very important, it keeps me current in this industry that’s always changing. I was fortunate to expose myself to different experiences to sharpen my skills through different experiences since I started doing hair. I attended classes with Toni & Guy Label M, Lizzie Liros, L’oreal Colour, Evo, and Wella to name a few. I also love to teach and share my knowledge with clients and students, and was certified by (Vidal) Sassoon Academy which helped me become an instructor to help others understand various hair cut, colour, and styling techniques.

It’s such a rewarding feeling to make others feel like their best self, and I truly believe that you can turn your passion into a successful career!

How do I properly pronounce your name?

“Ahn-DRAY-a”

People usually say "ANN-dree-a”, but I understand the confusion. =)

How did you come up with the AGOGO HAIR brand?

I originally wanted “GO HAIR”, but a catchy name like that was already taken, so I had to get creative:

A + GOGO + HAIR

“A”

For Andrea

“GOGO”

I’m Chinese-Filipino Canadian. My last name is Go, which comes from my great grandfather who was from Hong Kong. I was born in the Philippines and came to Canada with my family when I was 6. Filipinos have a thing for doubling names, and back then, my sister, cousin, and I were known as the “GOGO Girls”

“HAIR”

For the obvious reason =P
